Dropping a line here to mention the construction on the new chronlogy section at enenuru.net! In this section we attempt to deal with the issue of Mesopotamian chronology as it is most often delt with in the ANE community. This study is an essentiali all ANE programs, but is none the less very hard to come by outside of class. Chronology might be thought of as a scientific construction of the order of events in Mesopotamian history - most often, this pertains to reigns of known kings. The subject is unfortunatly made complex due to persistent complications and difficulties in decisively fixing a given date to a given Kingly reign. Although there are some very helpful features in Mesopotamian literature (most notably, the omen literature of late Babylonian literature which provides precise onservations of the rising and setting of the planet Venus; using these astromical observation.. scientists are able to be quite precise about late Mesopotamian chronology).. There are however continuing issues with dating early Mesopotamian chronology. This has resulted in four principal models of chronology, each differing approximately 80 years: they are the high, middle, low and ultra low models. More information can be found at the above like which is VERY MUCH under construction at this moment however, and I have only been able to put up the low section just yet. more to follow
