Thanks all! ;D Very imaginative birthday greetings lol - wards against my most hated demons, fish offerings for Enki and Ninkasi beer and an etcsl link. Very fitting stuff. (I had heard of brewers who are quite fascinated by the subject of Sumerian beer they have a few online groups but dont know anything else Sumerian.)
My anger with sleep seem to continue into this year as I sleep 4 hrs last two days and then today some long time and must now sleep little tommorow to make up for it. Must make time.

(I had heard of brewers who are quite fascinated by the subject of Sumerian beer they have a few online groups but don't know anything else Sumerian.) quote] Yeah, I've looked into brewing beer Sumerian style before and their is actually several beer companies that brew beer that is more or less a replication of the beer described in the Hymn to Ninkasi. There must be liberties taken in order to be able to bottle it though so it isn't 100% authentic. I've tried Dogfishhead's ancient brew and it was pretty hardcore. I don't think anyone but true beer enthusiast would actually enjoy drinking it on a regular basis but it is definitely worth a try. Check out this thread on my myspace group, I've posted several articles on the topic: forum.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=messageboard.viewThread&entryID=65703483&groupID=106884963&adTopicID=30&Mytoken=B577B329-0C1B-4A3B-B5B375E2BDC7BE3122279284

Another year passed. All the best wishes for you, friend. May Enki give your brain a daily massage.

Happy birthday Bill! It's written here - ush4-he2-gal2 u4-tu-ud-da hul2 he2-am3 (my translation of "happy birthday" into sumerian), where u4-tu-ud-da means "birthday" (Foxvog, Halloran dic.), hul2 is "happy, joyful" and "he2-am3" is "let it be". Although I'm not sure if this is right And here Enki gives you his pure water of wisdom, blessing you to become an assyriologist.

Thanks for the birthday wishes all! - I suppose it is the first birthday I haven't regretted in years which is a strange side effect of pressure. I still wish I could do more most of the time, and am interested in doing so, but that sentiment is accompanied by less frustration than in times past I suppose hm. I have to say a huge THANK YOU to Af for her wonderful tablet - I am smitten with it That is to say affectionately pleased. It's absolutely perfect - The Sumerian cuneiform, the wording (actually better then my own contrived Mesopotamian birthday greeting!) and the art, I think I demonstrate a Sumerian artists idea of a nose and elbows - excellent adaption! And I love Enki. More than a birthday sentiment, this tablet is the idea and expands the idea. I hope you don't mind if I spread it around?
