Hi all,
I haven't been around for a while. I went through a really bad insomnia bout, only sleeping 4 hours a day for a couple of weeks. This left me very foggy minded lol.
I've since enrolled to do a double BA - one in religion and one in history. I've managed to divide it fairly evenly between ancient history and modern Australian history. They only touch briefly on Mesopotamia, but after I've done this I will be doing post grad in ancient history, which takes a closer look at Mesopotamia.
Anyway, that's me.

Australian History is not a bad subject. IDK a lot, but I am curious about the indigenous tribes there. Plus, the wildlife is awesome.

I'm not actually doing a whole lot on the Aborigines. There were over 500 different nations before white man came, each with its own language and spiritual beliefs. Their cultures were incredibly complex with lots of laws on who could marry who and such. Their cultures were far more complex than anything that was brought over from England, but because they were still nomadic and didn't have structures, they were seen as not 'owning' the land, therefore it was free to take.
The laws governing the didgeridoo are quite interesting. It was a musical instrument originating in the top end of Australia around Arnhem land. There women could play it just as men could, but as the instrument travelled south, the laws changed and by the time they got to Sydney, women were banned from touching them. Which explains the uproar in Sydney back in the 80s when Madonna was filmed carrying one across Sydney airport.
