Hey enenurians! I'm finally able to produce some photograhic evidence of my recent trip to the ROM (ROYAL ONTARIO MUSEUM) - this trip I had been anticipating for some time. Canada, being a somewhat humble land to live in (especially from the Academic viewpoint), has until this year had little to speak of in terms of Near Eastern antiquities, or, at least, none that were available for public viewing.. Recently however, the ROM has opened a new Middle Eastern exhibit, which I have been excited to see - Sumerian cuneiform in Ontario? 0_0 Maybe this country isn't lame then I thought... So finally the chance to travel to the ROM, a 2 1/2 hour drive, came and a two weeks ago I took this country for all the cuneiform exhibit it had! Two entire rows of cuneiform tablets: Need I say it - DISPOSABLE CAMERA. Sooooo frustrating! 0_0 Anyway, to my delight and near rapture, item after item revealed more and more of the best attested Mesopotamian artifacts - Cuneiform tablets, Cones, Cylinder seals, Stamp Seals, Pre-historic figurines, even a sickle sword! Well..This is no Vorderasiatisches, no Louvre, but I have to admit being generally pleased with the entire expierence. Below I have presented the few surviving photos from my disposable camera, which was regretable ineffective. Inscribed Cones at the ROM
Cylinder Seals at the ROM Assyrian Sword (though not a sickle-sword) at the ROM
