Greetings you amazing scholars!
I'm in awe of your skill, and generosity with it. I've learned so much reviewing the site posts. Indeed I've been been significantly inspired if not comforted that my own fascination, indeed visceral response to this ancient writing and history is not as isolated as I thought
So, I've done my best to try to sort an authentic cuneiform writing for " live free and die hard"
JOKING!
Silliness aside, I would like to write in Akkadian cuneiform or Ugaritic cuneiform "earth" and "moon" for tattoo to run from neck to shoulder, one on each side. With very little success to be sure I'm on the correct target to honor the script and meaning. I would very much appreciate any insight you have time to offer. I didn't see any reference on this sight to Ugaritic but thought I'd ask
I have reviewed the glossary and many of the texts on ETCSL without finding either except "new moon" which is not what I want.
I was able to figure out from other sources that "earth" in Akkadian is "eresetu or ersetu"
And in Ugaritic "Érs or ars"
i could only find "new moon " in Akkadian as " yareakh" (same as Hebrew) but in Ugaritic "yrh ( my keyboard won't put the u under the h) " and "hm yrh" for moon in context as heavenly body..
i also realize that these transliterations may not be correctly done to identify the cuneiform - so I'm lost...
Would you be able to help me put these two words in Akkadian cuneiform ? or Sumerian or Ugaritic?
Or pint me to a good resource? Additionally, for those that have cuneiform tattoos do you have any pointers in selecting an artist with the skill to create precision style/vibe? Or just go off of experienced line work or maybe tribal art?
With respect and warmth, Randi Danielle
