As mentioned in the "Overall Incorporeality" thread, Im starting here a Bibliographical query, so can anyone suggest a book that has something say on this? Supporting or otherwise extremely welcome. Also while the focus for this thread is particularly on Sumerian conceptualization, perspective on Mesopotamian beliefs may also be useful. To start things off, one essay I really want which should be illuminating is:
"Ghost and God:Some Observations on a Babylonian Understanding of Human Nature" By Tzvi Abusch
This is an essay contained within the book "Self, Soul, and Body in Religious Experience (Studies in the History of Religions) (pgs.363-383), isbn - 9004109439
Katz comments on the essay: "The essence of soul and spirit is studied in Abusch, 1998. In a general sense I agree with his conclusion. However, I doubt that some detailed observations about the meaning of soul reflect the common belief in the UrIII and Old Babylonian periods.""
