Hi all, I'm putting together an informal online study group for people who are just starting to learn Akkadian. We use "A Grammar of Akkadian" by John Huehnergard, 3rd edition. It's useful to have its key as well. So far there are two members (me, in the USA) and my friend (in Copenhagen, Denmark). We meet on Skype once or twice a week and discuss any questions and concerns we had about the chapter we studied for that session. I'd love to add discussion of cultural/historical/artistic topics in ANE studies to our schedule, in addition to studying Sumerian and potentially Hittite (in subgroups or on a limited basis for fun!). We have an informal mentor/guide who is doing ANE graduate studies. If you are interested in joining us, please PM me on this site and I can send out an invite. If the group grows significantly, we could replace Skype with more suitable conferencing software. I can be reached at /u/SarratumDingir on Reddit as well. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon! -Tuppum

Tuppum, is this something that you guys are still doing? I'm between my master's and doctorate, and currently know Hebrew, Aramaic, and Ugaritic. I've been working off and on with Huehnergard's book for a year or so, and at this point, I would benefit from the structure of studying it with others. Just let me know. You can contact me at stephen.harris.jr@gmail.com if you are interested in adding another. I've made it as far as lesson 13 the last time I was working on things. I also have all of the signs from his grammar digitized, and I have been slowly building a word document to print flash cards for the signs to facilitate learning. Let me know!
