Key and explanation: TEXT # = Numbers according to G. Cunningham 1997, "Deliver Me From Evil: Mesopotamian Incantations 2500-1500 B.C." [ 1] - PPub = Primary Publication reference, author/year, accompanied by explanation of the relevant abbreviations from the B48-Blue.pdf (AfO) [ 2] - MUS # = Museum Number (tablet number) accompanied with Cdli reference number where available (http://cdli.ucla.edu/) To access the 'search cdlicore' feature you need the Opera, safari or netscape web browsers, cdli also adds a zero to museum numbers example Ni 2177 becomes Ni 02177 [ 3] - Alternate edition/s = Recent treatments of the given Incantation text. If the tablet has not been re-examined, this will likely be identical with Primary Publication or "N/A." IMPORTANT - as many of these alternate publications have yet to be obtained, it will be difficult to say with authority say whether an english/german/french translation included in these. [ 4] - Enenuru = Where a given incantation may be found on this board, who posted it, and alternatively who might have the incantation at their disposal if it has not been posted/brief notes about incantation/tablet. Explanation of Museum Number Abbreviations: Ni as in [ Ni 2177] = Nippur tablets from the Arkeoloji Müzerleri, Istanbul, Turkey. See cdli.ucla.edu/wiki/index.php/Arkeoloji_Müzerleri,_Istanbul,_Turkey CBS as in [ CBS 8731] = . Catalogue of the Babylonian section (Museum of the University of Pennsylvania) NBC as in [ NBC 11106] = Nies Babylonian Collection, siglum of the Yale Babylonian Collection, New Haven UM as in [ UM 29-15-367] = Tablet siglum of the University Museum, Philadelphia VAT as in [ VAT 6004] = Museum siglum of the Vorderasiatisches Museum, Berlin (Vorderasiatische Abteilung. Tontafeln) MLC as in [ MLC 1093] = Morgan Library Collection, siglum of the Yale Babylonian Collection, New Haven AUAM as in [ AUAM 73.1425] = Tablets in the collections of the Andrews University Archaeological Museum AO as in [ AO 11276] = Der Alte Orient (Leipzig 1900 ff.). 2) Museum siglum Louvre (Antiquités orientales) A as in [ A 30115] = tablets in the collections of the Oriental Institute, Univ. of Chicago (Referring to cdli.ucla.edu/wiki/index.php/Abbreviations_for_Assyriology)

For entry no. 72, the museum number is A 30115, meaning that it's in the Oriental Institute in Chicago. I know little about such texts, so even though I'm staring at the line drawing, it's hard to make sense of it.
***Admin: Thanks for the tip! Ya I'd expect all UrIII incantations to be quite problematic, or so Ive read. One potential stumbling block on this one too, is cdli have it listed as being written in 'Sumerian' which is not the case. cheers

In 2003, with the publication of a single book, the corpus of UrIII Incantations described by Cunningham six years earlier was doubled in number. While previously 22 such incantations had been identified, J. van Dijk and M. Geller in their " Ur III Incantations from the Frau Professor Hilprecht-Collection, Jena" ( TMH 6) have added an additional 23 UrIII Incantations, all of which have potential to tell us new things, to expand on or to possibly to reform earlier conclusions drawn about this genre. About the work itself, the tablets were first examined by van Dijk who was able to make copies of the tablets and begin the translation process however he was unable to finish. After his death, Geller (in 1998) expanded on and revised van Dijks beginnings and prepared the manuscript for final publication. As I've finally been able to access this work, I look forward to discussing it over the next weeks as its reviewed..and to that end, I've added a second UrIII Incantation Catalogue below. All incantations catalogued below are contained in TMH 6, (isbn 3477047070). All originate from Nippur and are in Sumerian. Key and explanation: TMH 6 1-23 = Each incantation is numbered according to the book (TMH 6 1 = Incantation text 1) [ 1] - MUS # = Museum Number (tablet number) [ 2] - Cdli reference number - see cdli.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de/ [ 3] - Enenuru = Where a given incantation may be found on this board, who posted it, and alternatively who might have the incantation at their disposal if it has not been posted/brief notes about incantation/tablet. Explanation of Abbreviations: - TMH as in 'Texte und Materialien der Frau Professor Hilprecht Collection' (vol. 6) Each incantation is numbered according to the book (TMH 6 1 = Incantation text 1) - HS as in 'Hilprecht Collection in Jena' UrIII Incantatoins JENA 8 of 23 texts have been quoted currently TMH 6 1[ 1] MUS # [ HS 2438] [ 2] Cdli: P273911 (photo/line art available) [ 3] Enenuru: See reply #4 on the UrIII incantations thread.
