I've seen it claimed how Hinduism has a bewildering array of deities, but every list I've found in English lists an incredibly small amoutn of deities by name, and not even Academia.edu is bringing up any new results. I was wondering if anyone had any idea where to look ?

The problem here is that this claim of "millions" is inaccurate. There are thousands of gods worldwide but not millions. But I don't meant worldwide, I mean within the confines of Hinduism.

Hukk, I forgot to add a lot of Hindu gods are merely aspects/incarnations of other gods. Vishnu has 9 incarnations; Buddha, Rama, and Krishna being 3 of them. Parvati has many, her most famous is Kali and Durga. I would love to give you resources on the subject if you want them.
